How we spec a private-label gi before the first cut

Pearl weave, GSM, tape, and embroidery placement — the written spec that keeps academy uniforms consistent from sample to bulk.

A custom gi program starts on paper, not on the cutting table. Buyers send a logo, a colorway, and a target price. We turn that into a spec the sewing floor can repeat.

What goes in the spec

  • Weave and GSM for the jacket and pants
  • Contrast tape, rope, and drawstring
  • Embroidery or woven-label placement on a 2D/3D mockup
  • Size run and shrinkage allowance after first wash

Sampling before bulk is the control. The approved sample becomes the production standard — stitch count, collar density, and label stack included.

From mockup to carton

Once the mockup is signed, we cut a sample pair, photograph it, and lock the tech pack. Bulk follows the same nest, the same bartacks, and the same packing list your distributors expect.
